As part of the licensure renewal process, Tier 3 and Tier 4 teachers must submit evidence of professional development and growth in reading preparation, including the areas of fluency, phonemic awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development.

Renewing Our Love Affair With Teaching! This school year, South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) is offering a short workshop series to your teachers and/or leadership teams. The series includes two kickoff discovery workshops that can be accessed anytime this fall or later followed by personalized learning and impact projects. Dive into reading with our reading academy series at South Central Service Cooperative Conference Center! Select one of the reading lists, enjoy reading through the books and submit an online review (2–3 sentences) for each book you read. Then convene on June 13, 2022 (Reading and Motivation) for a day of networking, best practices, book discussions and literacy resources. To receive appropriate credit hours and certificate of completion, participants are required to fulfill the requirements on their selected reading list and provide their reaction to the book and how it could be used in the library or classroom setting or incorporated into an activity. As part of the 125 clock-hour requirement for license renewal, the Minnesota Legislature, by statute, requires ALL teachers to show evidence in specific areas to renew a license.These sessions are offered in one day and the times and areas are: 1. Cultural Competency* 8–9 a.m. 2. Early Warning Signs of Mental Illness 9–10 a.m. 3. Suicide Prevention 10–11 a.m. 4. English Language Learners 11 a.m.–12 p.m. 5. Reading Preparation 1–2 p.m. 6. PBIS/Accommodations 2–3 p.m.* If attending Cultural Competency, you will receive additional instructions on assignments that need to be completed in advance of attending the session (a self-assessment and multiple readings).Participants may register for all six areas for $350 or choose individual sessions for $60. Each session will have a set of materials for further study. Lunch is on your own.

Get Your Future in Gear is designed for high school students and is hosted by industry partners, Minnesota State Colleges and Minnesota High Schools. Get Your Future in Gear offers students opportunities to learn about how vehicles work, build their confidence with technical skills, work in teams to develop life and employability skills, and gain exposure to industry. Campers get the opportunity to learn about careers in transportation areas ranging from Automotive Technology, Auto Body and Collision Repair, Medium and Heavy Truck Technology, Diesel and Heavy Equipment to Marine and Powersports by learning technical skills through hands-on activities throughout the week. Campers will experience the world of transportation with tours and hands on experiences at Minnesota State University, South Central College, Truck Center Companies, and Arnold’s of Mankato. Get Your Future in Gear is a three day camp hosted by the South Central Service Cooperative. Camp starts at 9a and ends at 4p. Lunch and snacks are provided each day. Once you are registered, you will receive an email with additional information about Camp. The cost is $50. Scholarships are available!
