Career and Technical Education (CTE) expands learner access to high-quality programs that prepare individuals for college, careers, and lifelong success. Through the Perkins V legislation, dedicated resources support the development and implementation of CTE programs that meet a wide range of educational needs—from early career exploration through advanced workforce preparation.
Perkins V emphasizes equitable access and supports the success of learners from special populations. By aligning educational pathways with current and emerging industry needs, the legislation helps ensure that students are equipped with the skills necessary to pursue meaningful careers in a rapidly changing job market. A required comprehensive local needs assessment further guides program development by balancing student interests with evolving economic demands.
CTE programs educate students for a range of career options through 16 career clusters and more than 79 specific articulated pathways.
