Please join us for professional learning and discussion based on Building Thinking Classrooms written by Peter Liljedahl.

This group discussion will be facilitated by a math teacher and coach and will bring together knowledge from this practical text and the expertise of others in the room. This group will meet virtually on Zoom for a one-hour discussion on the following Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10:30: June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16, and July 23. The book ($40) will be provided along with 5 Teacher or Administrator CEUs.

Here is a little about the book:

A thinking student is an engaged student

Sparked by observing teachers struggle to implement rich mathematics tasks to engage students in deep thinking, Peter Liljedahl has translated his 15 years of research into this practical guide on how to move toward a thinking classroom. Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, Grades K-12 helps teachers implement 14 optimal practices for thinking that create an ideal setting for deep mathematics learning to occur. This guide

  • Provides the what, why, and how of each practice
  • Includes firsthand accounts of how these practices foster thinking
  • Offers a plethora of macro moves, micro moves, and rich tasks to get started

Emails will be sent when books arrive and are available for pick up.
