The Early Childhood Longitudinal Data System (ECLDS) is Minnesota’s integrated early childhood data system. It combines information from the Minnesota Departments of Education, Human Services, Health, and Children, Youth & Families, and provides public, interactive reports at eclds.mn.gov
SCSC serves as a regional contact for coaching and training support at no cost to members. We help schools, early childhood programs, and partners access and use ECLDS data to inform planning and decision-making.
ECLDS brings together early childhood and family data to help Minnesota understand:
- Who is participating in public early care and education programs
- What experiences children have had prior to kindergarten
- How early childhood factors relate to outcomes such as kindergarten attendance, early grades achievement, and third-grade test scores
These linked data allow communities and agencies to:
- Conduct community needs assessments
- Support grant applications and fundraising
- Strengthen program planning and improvement
- Develop reports, research, and policy insights
- Understand community strengths, needs, and resources across birth–grade 3
By connecting multiple early childhood data sources—including screening, special education, scholarships, family demographics, economic assistance, and more—ECLDS helps educators and community leaders make informed decisions that support Minnesota’s children and families.
