Kennedy Elementary Recognized as a Minnesota Blue Ribbon School

South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) is proud to recognize Kennedy Elementary School in Mankato Area Public Schools for being named one of Minnesota’s Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools—a designation that led to its nomination as a 2025 National Blue Ribbon School by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Although the U.S. Department of Education ended the National Blue Ribbon Schools program in 2025 and did not name national recipients, Minnesota chose to honor the schools that met the rigorous criteria and would have been nominated for national recognition. Kennedy Elementary is one of just eight schools statewide selected for this distinction.

The announcement was made this week during the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA) Institute, where Commissioner Willie Jett celebrated schools demonstrating outstanding academic performance or significant progress in closing achievement gaps.

Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools are recognized for excelling in reducing disparities in academic outcomes among student groups. Kennedy Elementary’s selection reflects its commitment to high-quality instruction, targeted supports, and a school culture that ensures all learners have the opportunity to succeed.

As a member district of South Central Service Cooperative, Mankato Area Public Schools’ recognition highlights the ongoing commitment across the region to excellence in teaching, learning, and student support.
