Central Community Transit Welcomes New Executive Director Kathy Schultz

Central Community Transit (CCT) in Willmar, Minnesota is pleased to announce the selection of Kathy Schultz as its next Executive Director, concluding a comprehensive selection process facilitated by Mike Humpal, Manager of Local Government Solutions at South Central Service Cooperative. Schultz was selected for her extensive experience in transportation, her work with governing boards, and her strong leadership abilities. She is anticipated to begin her role with CCT on June 8, 2026.

Schultz brings more than 30 years of experience in transportation planning and public transit, with a career spanning county and city-wide transit systems and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). She most recently served as Transit Technology Program Manager with MnDOT’s Office of Transit and Active Transportation, where she led statewide initiatives focused on mobility innovation, technology integration, and improving the customer transit experience.

Throughout her career, Schultz has held leadership roles in transit planning, development, and operations, including her work with Metro Transit in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has led major planning efforts, implemented new fare technologies, and supported service expansions designed to improve access and mobility for communities. Her experience includes oversight of federal transit grants, coordination with state and local partners, and extensive community outreach.

Schultz also brings strong experience working with governing boards and community stakeholders, helping guide strategic planning, funding discussions, and system improvements. She is known for her collaborative approach, clear communication, and ability to bring together partners to advance shared goals.
