SCSC is the statewide host for Poetry Out Loud, a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition to high schools across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
Since 2005, Poetry Out Loud has grown to reach more than 3.8 million students and 60,000 teachers from 16,000 schools in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
Additional information can be found at poetryoutloud.org.
Note: The POL national website will undergo updates from Sept. 1 through Oct. 1. This year’s anthology will be available after Oct. 1.
Minnesota Poetry Ourselves is an additional component to our state program in which students who have participated at any level can submit self-written poetry to be included in an e-book. We thank the participants and invite you to view the 2024-25 edition.
