Mankato East’s Chris Ward Honored with University of Minnesota’s Sarah L. Tilman Memorial Science Teacher Award
South Central Service Cooperative is pleased to highlight the achievements of educators across our region. Mankato East High School teacher and coach Chris Ward has been recognized by the University of Minnesota with the Sarah L. Tilman Memorial Science Teacher Award. The annual award honors science educators who inspire curiosity, center students in their learning, and connect classroom concepts to real-world applications.
Ward was nominated by former students who praised his engaging instruction, mentorship, and meaningful impact on their academic and personal growth. He currently teaches AP Biology, Biology, and Anatomy at Mankato East High School.
“In Chris’s classroom, science becomes meaningful, and his support helps students reach their full potential,” said Mankato East Principal Akram Osman.
Ward was recognized during a ceremony held at the University of Minnesota on October 27, which brought together educators, students, and partners dedicated to excellence in science education.
