SCSC Hosts Region 2 MASA Fall Meeting

South Central Service Cooperative hosted the Region 2 MASA member meeting Oct. 23.  Approximately 25 region MASA members attended as well as SCSC staff, and Region V and MSBA leadership.

Kirk Schneidawind, MASA executive director, shared thoughts about the upcoming 2020 legislative issues. The 2020 legislative session is not a bonding year so very limited discussion will take place relating to finance. Members attending were encouraged to access the newly developed superintendent evaluation process developed jointly by MSBA and MASA.

Ed Waltman, SCSC advisory services, distributed the newly revised SCSC shared services brochure. Special attention was drawn to the SCSC/MSBA partnership in providing strategic planning programs to SCSC member districts.

Harold Remme, SCSC advisory services, shared the results of the classified employee compensation survey. Thirteen schools completed the survey. Survey results are reported by similar school size. Results are available to all SCSC schools by contacting Kelsey Rose at 507-389-6999 or krose@mnscsc.org.

Darin Jensen, Region V computer services executive director, reported on changes to services provided by Region V. Jensen suggested school accounting personnel attend regional workshops on Minnesota school finance.

Glenn Morris, SCSC regional program director, and Dave Paschke, SOCRATES managing director, reported on new and continuing SCSC services to PreK–12 programming.

Barb Bergseth explained Synergy & Leadership Exchange programs available to SCSC member schools and the many opportunities to recognize staff and students.
