The Region 9 Low Incidence Project provides in-services and training for teachers throughout the region who work with DCD students. The project also provides a regional network for DCD teachers and each year we send two representatives from the region to the state DCD network. This allows teachers to access current resources as well as being informed on research based practices.

• American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD)

Oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization of professional and others concerned about mental retardation (MR) and related disabilities.  Promotes development and dissemination of progressive policies, sound research, and universal human rights for people with intellectual disabilities.  Publishes three periodicals.  Website provides information on MR, a discussion group, and a bookstore.

• The Arc of the United States
  

Organization committed to the welfare of all children and adults with MR.  Members include individuals with MR, family members, professionals in the field of disability, and other concerned citizens.

• Autism Society of America
  

Organization dedicated to increasing public awareness about autism.  Provides information and education, supports research, and advocates for programs and services for the autism population.

Organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with MR by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment

• Epilepsy Foundation
  

Organization committed to the prevention and cure of epilepsy and a positive quality of life for everyone with seizure disorders.  Goals are to broaden and strengthen research, provide easy access to reliable information, and assure access to appropriate medical care.

• National Association on Dual Diagnosis (NADD)
  

Organization designed for professionals and family members of individuals who have developmental disabilities and mental health needs.  Provides educational services, training materials, and conferences.

• National Down Syndrome Congress
  

National advocacy organization for Down syndrome.  Serves as clearinghouse for information on Down syndrome, hosts an annual convention, and publishes a newsletter, The Down Syndrome News.
