South Central Service Cooperative sponsored the “Minnesota Student Inventors Congress” Saturday, April 30 at the Madison East Mall in Mankato. Forty-three original inventions were developed and exhibited by elementary students from the south central Minnesota region. Eleven inventions were selected by the judges to advance to the State Inventors Congress in Redwood Falls on June 10, 11, & 12, 2005. The state event is a non-competitive venue where student and adult inventors from around the state can display their work.

Additionally, students voted on what would be their choice of the best invention! This is called the “Kids Choice Award.” Kids Choice Award winners are: Jesse Schwirtz and Robert Harter of Sibley East Schools. Their invention “Spill Defender” is also invited to participate in the state event in June.
