Knowledge Bowl

Two South Central Teams Medal at State Knowledge Bowl Meet

Governor Pawlenty presented the six top medalist Division “A” and “AA” teams with certificates of recognition for their outstanding achievement in the 2005 State Knowledge Bowl Meet. Forty-eight teams competed in Brainerd, April 19–20, 2005 for the state championship. These teams advanced through regional competition, emerging from nearly 700 teams statewide. Congratulations to Blue Earth, who finished 5th in the state “A” Division and to Fairmont, who finished 6th in the state “A” Division from the south central region.

At the State meet, four-person teams compete against one another in one written and five oral rounds of interdisciplinary questions for a total of 285 questions. Success at the competition requires the ability to work as a team, as well as knowledge of a variety of areas of study and the ability to recall that information quickly. Knowledge Bowl is sponsored by eleven Service Cooperatives around the state and celebrated its 26th year as an Academic Challenge in Minnesota.
