Promethean Technology Workshops:
As a certified Promethean Learning Academy, SCSC offers the following workshops as support for member schools to provide instruction and training for Promethean ActivInspire users. Presented as "hands-on" instruction, the training will allow time for participants to develop materials to transform their lessons to more effectively integrate the Interactive White Board (IWB) technology in their classroom. Core Essentials 1

Participants: Beginning ActivInspire users; no prior training required

Content: Introductory training for beginner ActivInspire users. Core Essentials 1 will provide participants with an understanding of ActivInspire basic tools and capabilities and provide background for building knowledge and application. The session will include step-by-step, hands-on instruction and integrated examples, including introducing the software's basic tools and resources, creating interactive flipchart lessons, and accessing online resources, such as those from Promethean Planet. Participants will have time to practice skills and begin to create flipchart lessons. Wireless Internet access is available in the meeting room and participants are encouraged to bring a laptop installed with the most recent version of ActivInspire and the Resource Gallery to use during the session.

Content: Training for intermediate ActivInspire users. Core Essentials 2 is designed to help participants build upon their basic knowledge of the software and develop interactive flipchart lessons using intermediate skills. Also including step-by-step, hands-on instruction and integrated examples, this session will address such techniques as constructing pages using Magic Ink, designing graphic visuals with the Connector tool, using and creating grids and discovering and applying the software's interactive math tools. Participants will have time to practice skills and begin to create flipchart lessons. Wireless Internet access is available in the meeting room and participants are encouraged to bring a laptop installed with the most recent version of ActivInspire and the Resource Gallery to use during the session.

Beyond the Essentials

Content: Building on the skills learned in Core Essentials 1 and Core Essentials 2, this training will help participants understand how to build more interactivity into their flipcharts by using containers and restrictors as well as embedding multimedia. Step-by-step, hands-on instruction and integrated examples will include such topics as using the Property and Action Browsers, creating Containers and Restrictors, using outside resources with ActivInspire, and creating and working with video, sound and image files. Participants will have time to practice skills and create flipchart lessons. Wireless Internet access is available in the meeting room and participants are encouraged to bring a laptop installed with the most recent version of ActivInspire and the Resource Gallery to use during the session.
