The Water Ecology project provides opportunity to districts to develop an on-going program for K-12 education on environment, eco-systems, and water resources.
With funding from the Medtronic Foundation, and support from the state’s watershed districts and several state agencies, services include:
- Science Education - Model K-12 curriculum/materials have been developed through the Medtronic grant that meet the new state standards for engineering education as it relates to water education programming
- Facility Management – Information on managing facilities to better prevent water contamination including training for facility managers on new water issues and how to reduce impervious water fees
- State Facility Renovation Support – Technical assistance and guidelines on applying for financial support through the Legacy Act to upgrade district facilities including creating rain gardens and other storm water controls
