
DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Minnesota Educators of Gifted and Talented (MEGT) is to:
- promote and support the professional preparation of teachers and other educational professionals who have responsibility for the education of gifted and talented students
- cooperate with other organizations and agencies in efforts to promote the education, funding and welfare of gifted and talented students
- encourage scholarly research and the dissemination of information pertaining to gifted and talented children in school and society
The south central Riverbend chapter’s gifted coordinators meet regularly to network, share materials, conduct book studies and share best practices and strategies. All school districts in the area are encouraged to send a representative, even if they don't have a formal coordinator in their district.
Coordinators meet every other month from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Gustavus Adolphus College.

GIFTED AND TALENTED EDUCATION
Special Schools for the Gifted Network Meetings
The December network presentation on program standards has been rescheduled to March 23, 2012. The next meeting will be held on January 20 in Conference Center B, room CC-15. Invited speaker Tom Gillaspy, Minnesota State Demographer and Wendy Behrens, MDE Gifted and Talented Education Specialist will discuss their presentation called Using Data for Defensible Programs.
Representatives from the Bloomington, Lakeville and Prior Lake-Savage school districts will lead a panel discussion during the afternoon. Gifted and Talented Education Symposium 2012
The Hormel Foundation has renewed support for the Gifted and Talented Education Symposium through 2014. Plan now to attend the 2012 symposium, June 10-14 in Austin. A dual-track pre-conference will be held the afternoon of June 10, and a full-day Administrator/Counselor day will be held on June 11. Registration Information.
