DESCRIPTION
The 2012 Young Writers & Artists Conference (YWAC) was held March 6 and 7 at Bethany Lutheran College.
The Young Writers & Artists Conference (YWAC) offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects related to writing and creative arts. YWAC utilizes a number of authors, artists, educators, experienced writers, and business leaders as conference facilitators. These local and regional talents inspire youth and encourage them to take their own talents to new levels. Session topics may include, but not be limited to: poetry, fiction writing, character and plot development, illustration/cartooning, theater art, music, graphic design, journalism, science fiction, humor, screen plays, calligraphy, etc.
A BOOK FAIR courtesy of The Book Shelf features books from some of the conference’s presenters as well as other popular titles. This is an incredible opportunity for students to get their books signed by authors they meet either during lunch or in their sessions.
Bethany Lutheran College – host for the YWAC in Mankato. This partnership allows students to attend individual hands-on sessions on a college campus in a closely supervised environment without normal daily college activities and students present.
The Betsy-Tacy Society, sponsors of the Deep Valley Book Fest, provides students with more opportunities to learn about writing and the creative arts. Please visit www.betsy-tacysociety.org for additional learning opportunities.

Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council - This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
