DESCRIPTION
The Stock Market Game™ is a unique educational tool that helps students build skills in a wide range of disciplines including business, math, social studies, language arts, life skills, and economics. Students' skills develop as they use this program to meet the challenge of learning more about the stock market and world of finance. The format is highly motivational and has expanded to serve more than 15,000 Minnesota students each year. Over 9 million students have used the program nationally since 1977.
Students work in teams and are given a virtual $100,000 to invest in stocks and mutual funds. During this fourteen-week simulation, teams receive a portfolio showing their transactions, brokerage fees, interest, and rank based on equity in their portfolios.
Students in grades 4–12 can play the game. Competitions are divided into three divisions: Elementary (4–6), Middle/Jr. (7–9), and High School (10–12). The cost is only $20 per team and the Year Long Session is $30 per team. This fee includes costs of operating the game and technical help.
Fall Session: September 13 – December 17, 2010
Spring Session: January 10 – April, 21, 2011
Year Long: September 9 – April 28, 2011
Please note that teachers can use the game ANYTIME within these dates. These are the windows of time available to play.
A Stock Market Game Faculty Workshop is offered each year.
