Creativity, innovation, problem-solving and the invention process are the main elements of the MN Student Inventors Congress. Students are challenged to identify a problem, research it, test solutions, document results and then display the results of this process. MSIC advisors receive a packet containing information for the event and "how to teach an invention unit" after registration is received. |

The Work Skills Competition Day is an exciting opportunity for students with disabilities in grades 11 and 12 to showcase their job seeking and job keeping skills. Students will fill out a paper application, interview with friendly potential employers, demonstrate skills they have to solve problems that could arise in a job situation, and take a short written test to access their basic knowledge of job skills and work-related issues. Lunch is provided along with entertainment after all students have completed their rounds. |

Agenda includes: What’s in an App and what’s the point of mobile device use in instruction?
Why is everyone so crazy about mobile devices and the apps they offer? Have you ever wondered what apps are great for enhanced instructional practice? During this session, spend some time figuring out how mobile devices can be used in instruction and learn some apps that benefit and enhance current instructional practice.
Objectives: Participants will be able to: *Identify instructional purposes for mobile devices and common free apps *Collaborate online using a mobile device *Create and share basic instructional tools using apps from the “common app list” *Become aware of general mobile device and app for enhanced instruction and student engagement
In the second half of the morning session, share how formative assessments be most accurately and appropriately used throughout instruction? *How can data be collected immediately, effectively and anonymously throughout instruction so that instructors can best monitor and adjust? Participants will be able to: *Utilize a variety of tools to gather and provide immediate feedback *Create at least three tools to use in their current instructional practice to gather evidence of learning, progress or opinion During the afternoon, consider: Co-Teaching and Making Content Available 24/7 Have you ever wanted to be in more than one place at the same time? Have you ever wished that you could record your instruction and make it available later for students/others? Participants will be able to: *Create instruction in Flipped Instruction format (video, guided practice, differentiated follow-up in-class activities) *Create online access to their and others’ instructional videos *Facilitate Small-group work with mobile device guidance

This training will discuss the state’s best practices for IAQ management and prepare school officials to serve as the district’s IAQ Coordinator. In this basic level course, participants learn the basics of Blomberg Rhythmic Movement Training (BRMT). How movements can be used to assist in regulating muscle tone and stimulating the connections between parts of the brain, especially as they relate to impulse control and attention. BRMT is a primitive reflex integration program that stimulates brain connections for increased impulse control and attention, improved balance, coordination and stamina, and addresses speech, learning and developmental delays. |
